Post-9 Final Reflection

1. Think back to the beginning of internship. What were your goals? Did you achieve these goals?
My goals were to get enough hours to pass internship class and to have experience about teaching to see if I will like it and I can try to pursue that career because I am not sure what I want to do. I achieve my internship goals, after internship finish I was missing six hours but I keep working in my school helping Ms.Sherien, Mr.Carlos and some of my teachers and I get the hours that I was missing, I had a great experience as teacher assistant this will definitely help me in the future if I will pursue the teacher career.

2. What are the most important ideas or skills you’ve learned in the last 10 weeks? I learned to be more organize and that I have to always respect the others.

3. What has having a relationship with a professional employee such as your supervisor/mentor meant to your personal development? How have you have grown as a student? Having a relationship with a professional supervisor helps my personal development a lot because she gave me good advice and seen her working and expressing herself taught me more about the adults lives. Thanks to my internship I have grown more as a student because I was working as a teacher assistant and is not easy to teach now I have a different look about teacher.

4. What were the highlights (memorable moments) of your internship experience? The memorable moments of my internship is how nice the students, the teacher and the school staff were with me, other highlights were the happy faces of the students, the method that my mentor taught and the different programs that the students were in.

5. What are your thoughts about jobs, careers, or the professional world in general as a result of having spent 125 hours working in it? I think that the professional world is very difficult but I like it.

6. After high school, what do you want to pursue for a career? Are you more or less interested in college as a result of your internship? After high school the career that I want to pursue is to be a teacher, after internship I am more interesting in college. Before internship I was not sure what I wanted to be but after the internship experiences that I had I want to be a teacher.

7. What were your biggest challenges to overcome and how did you handle those challenges? My biggest challenge was in the beginning of internship because when I talked to my mentor I get nervous and I didn’t have a good communication with her at the beginning but I saw how nice person she was and I start to believe in my self and I get confidence and I was not nervous anymore when I talked to her.

8. If you were to start a brand new internship next week, what are at least two things you would do differently? I would be more confident in the first week and believe more in me because in my last internship I was nervous in the first week and then I became more confident after I saw how nice the people were there another thing that I would do different is to have more conversation with the mentor to know her/him better.

9. Think of two to three pieces of advice you could offer to a new intern at your site. I will tell them to be persistent/patient with the students and if they don't like to do something they should tell the supervisor and they will not ask you to do it anymore.

10. What will you miss about your internship? I will miss the kids they were very nice with me, I will miss my mentor, the classes, the internship side, I will miss everybody and everything at that school and I also will miss the time that I had to left school early to go to the internship side.
